The accommodation base of Rata lodge and cottage is located in Staveley, Mid Canterbury, and this "boutique barnstay" is set in a private bush garden under the grand presence of Mount Somers. Rata Escape also offers custom-made day adventures exploring the spectacular local backcountry and farmland. Activities include guided hiking, mountain biking, 4WD exploring, farm tours and creative workshops (cheesemaking, painting, limestone sculpting, floral art). There is the option of fully catered for self-contained stays.

$120 per night for up to 2 people, $30 for an additional person
Minimum stay of two nights
20% discount for booking of 4+ nights or more.

HOW TO FIND US
Rata escape is situated 1 1/4 hours drive south west of Christchurch.
From Christchurch take the West Coast Road inland.
Turn off to Hororata and Rakaia Gorge and from the Rakaia river carry on driving south on highway 1 to Staveley village.
Turn right at the Staveley store and we are 800m up Flynns Road on the left.
